I am Sumaya Ahmed, the founder and owner of SunurQ. SunurQ is a one woman female owned business and my core focus is assisting women who struggle with period pain, the female reproductive system and any chronic pain. Our aim is to assist people with relief pain the natural way.

My journey to create heatpacks started in 2014, when my daughter who was 10 years old at the time got her period for the first time. Apart from the fact that she was only ten years old, she got her period very bad which had lasted a full seven days. She suffered from excruciating pain followed by vomiting to being debilitated the first 2 – 3 days. As a mother, I felt completely helpless and watching her suffer was the worst. The agonizing pain she endured each and every month was my drive to research natural ways to assist with the pain which ultimately would replace the pain tablets. It was then when I came across a wonderful product called the ‘Microwave Heat Pack’ and discovered its wonderful benefits. The more I researched and read up on the product, the more I experienced AHA moments... I then searched where in Cape Town I could find these wonderful life savers but soon realized that the products were mostly sold abroad (at the time in 2015). I thought to myself, okay, I do have a sewing machine and the love for creating new things, why can’t I make this product myself? This was the best decision I could ever have made. The heatpack I made, soon became my daughter’s ‘go to’ every month as it helped her tremendously to cope with the pain, without taking tablets.

I believe, that our heatpack is a wonderful natural pain reliever and strongly feel that each household should have one. I also believe, that every female teenager and adult should own one. As a woman, I know how challenging it is to deal with pain , stress and just everyday life. I created a tool that helped manage stress and anxiety (in all it’s forms); one that is safe AND effective when the conventional options just weren’t making the cut. All our heatpacks are standard and includes a washable cover and essential oils which emanate a lovely aroma which assists with a calm and relax atmosphere.
